U.S. Suspends Military Aid To Kiev

The United States has suspended military aid to Ukraine. As part of the Trump Administration’s America first” policy, Washington’s envoy to NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization), Matthew Whitaker, has told Fox Business that weapons shipments to Kiev will cease.

The U.S. now has an insufficient supply of weapons since it got involved in the war with Russia and Ukraine, and says its goal is to put the U.S. slave class first.

“This is what ‘America first’ looks like. We first have to take care about the United States’ needs,” Whitaker told Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo on Wednesday. The Pentagon needs to “make sure that the US has the strategic defense capabilities necessary to project power,” he said, adding that this is what Washington and its NATO allies want.

“We have to make sure that we have enough Patriot missiles and we have enough air defense and all the things that we need to ensure our own success on the battlefield,” the envoy stated.

What battlefield would that be? Are they planning for a war that isn’t in motion yet?

The weapons in question had been funded under the administration of former US President Joe Biden through two mechanisms: direct drawdowns from existing US military stockpiles and the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), which contracts new production from defense contractors. Representative Eugene Vindman, a Democrat out of Virginia, said he is “furious” that the U.S. is no longer actively propping up the war between Russia and Ukraine.

“The decision to pause critical U.S. weapons shipments — including Patriot missiles and artillery — puts Ukrainian lives and territory at risk,” the Army veteran, who represents Virginia, wrote on X.

“The Ukrainian people are fighting fiercely against Putin’s invasion,” he added. “We must course-correct to ensure our Ukrainian partners have what they need in their fight for freedom.”

According to a report by Politico, the halt was driven by Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Elbridge Colby after a review of U.S. munitions stockpiles that showed dangerously low reserves. U.S. military officials who were tracking the shipments said that some of the weapons were already staged in Poland before the order came down.

“I think [the decision to halt weapons shipments to Ukraine was] all made by the [Department of Defense, DOD] policy director, this Colby guy. We essentially don’t have a national security adviser,” said Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas). “I’m not even sure [Secretary of State Marco] Rubio was consulted on this one … There’s internal division in the White House.”

The U.S. has been in a state of whiplash over its involvement with Ukraine. Is this just another situation in the land of confusion? And why is it all of a sudden imperative that the U.S. has a massive stockpile of weapons, such as Patriot missile systems? What do you think? Start a discussion in the comments!
