It seems that while government is perfectly capable of bailing out major corporations with in excess of $1 trillion dollars thus far, they can’t seem to get unemployment bailouts to those on Main Street. 

They are, according to one official, doing the best they can.

Various news sources are reporting that the phone systems managed by State Unemployment offices are not able to handle the extremely high volume of calls flooding their service centers or hits visiting their web sites. I guess that makes sense, considering we’ve lost nearly (over?) 2 million jobs in the USA in the last 12 months alone!

And should you choose to go to the unemployment office in person, be ready to wait for over 4 hours to get your interview and paperwork completed.

If this is any indicator of how government handles their business, think about what you can expect when health care is socialized. Those lines are going to be so much fun! Be sure to bring a Nintendo DS or web-enabled phone (and maybe some backup batteries, too) when you head out to the emergency room.
